THE STORY

What do you get when you combine a top-notch custom home builder, a great architectural plan, homeowners with vision and Jason's approach to design? Well, you get this beautiful new home filled with creativity, stunning materials and beautifully designed spaces. When this couple approached Jason, they knew that having an interior designer as part of the building team was going to be crucial in the success of their project. Involved in all the details from ground up, Jason worked closely with the builder and the homeowners to create a home that feels traditional in the architectural details, but is otherwise a contemporary family home.

From the moment you enter the front door, you get a sense of volume of space. The great room is defined by the stone fireplace surround that reaches up to one of the reoccurring design elements in the home - a graceful arch. The arch repeats in multiple ways ~ some subtle and some not so subtle. The adjacent kitchen is really the hub of the home with a custom metal vent hood (look for the arch here too) and an expansive island with enough seating for their growing family. In the dining room, we took a different approach and created a more intimate room centered around the beautifully detailed chandelier (the first item the homeowners showed the design team). With beautifully textured walls, "aged" wood beams, cooled wine closets and a slightly unusual piece of art (we call her Queen French Fry), this room is comfortable and elegant at the same time.

No room was untouched by thoughtful design. The master bathroom (Jason's favorite room of the house) is defined by a clean contemporary feel again using traditional materials. Large scale "marble" tile on the floor leads to a dramatic shower/tub room looking out over the tree tops. Three horizontal windows create an architectural detail specific to this room. Custom bedding, window treatments and furniture are used in all the bedrooms to add unique touches. In the boys' bathroom, we used a wood wall, and nautical inspired sconces and mirrors to create a handsome bathroom that can easily be changed as the boys get older. Even the main powder room received special attention with a high graphic wallpaper and red art-glass vessel sink.
